Over the years, my photography journey has taken me through a wide range of locations, styles, and ideas. Like many photographers, I started out chasing locations—heading to well-known spots, dramatic coastlines, and iconic scenes, hoping to capture something special.
And I did.
But over time, something shifted.
I found myself coming back home… and seeing things differently.
That shift not only changed my photography—it’s now shaped the talks I offer to camera clubs and groups, both in-person and online.

My Landscape – Finding Photography Close to Home
My Landscape is a talk built around my personal journey in photography.
It covers where I started, the locations I travelled to, and how everything eventually came full circle—back to shooting locally. It’s about learning to see your surroundings differently and realising that you don’t need dramatic locations to create meaningful work.
I talk about:
How I began in photography
The pull of well-known locations
The turning point that brought me back home
Finding subjects in everyday environments
Creating projects rather than single images
There’s something honest about photographing your local area. You revisit, you learn, and you connect with the landscape in a way that just isn’t possible when you’re passing through.
And that’s where stronger, more personal images begin to appear.

Make It Simple – The Power of Minimalism
Alongside My Landscape, I’m currently developing a brand new talk: Make It Simple.
This one focuses on a completely different—but equally important—approach to photography.
In a world where it’s easy to overcomplicate images, Make It Simple is about stripping everything back.
It’s about:
Seeing clean compositions in busy environments
Removing distractions
Focusing on shape, light, and balance
Creating minimal, impactful images
Whether I’m shooting seascapes or rural landscapes, the aim is always the same—simplify the scene down to its essence.
This talk explores how I see those images and, more importantly, how I go about creating them. It’s about making strong decisions at the point of capture.
Minimalism isn’t about having less for the sake of it—it’s about having only what matters in the frame.
Two Talks, One Core Idea
Although My Landscape and Make It Simple are different talks, they’re connected by the same underlying idea:
Being more intentional with your photography.
One focuses on where you shoot and how you connect with your environment. The other focuses on how you see and simplify what’s in front of you.
Together, they reflect my journey as a photographer—and the way I now approach every image I create.
